Pierre Bonnard (October 3, 1867 – January 23, 1947)

                                                                                    
The Pastoral Symphony
1916-1920

Pierre Bonnard is an artist with whom colors were often the most intense characters in his pieces, creating various strong effects throughout a single canvas. But quite a few of his creations, such as The Indolent Woman below, were muted in color and strange in character. There's also an extremely off-putting quality in many of Bonnard's paintings that I find absolutely wonderful in its own intense way.
